Role overview

The Junior Cyber Security Assurance Analyst will support security assessments for cloud-based systems subject to NIST requirements. This role involves partnering with technical and business teams to create, maintain, and deliver the security evidence and documentation needed to show compliance with required controls. The position also assists with identifying, tracking, and remediating gaps, supports continuous monitoring and diagnostic activities, and helps coordinate the security portion of release and change management. In addition, the analyst will review planned system changes, assess security impact, and assist with scanning, testing, reporting, production readiness, and post-release support.

Key responsibilities

The analyst will collaborate with U.S. federal government stakeholders, including ISSOs, system owners, cybersecurity staff, and other project partners on release-related work. The role also involves updating established plans for security release activities and helping ensure that security work is aligned with broader system delivery efforts.

Qualification requirements

Applicants should bring a mix of cybersecurity knowledge, documentation ability, and hands-on experience in federal system security support.

  • Use, administer, and help implement cybersecurity tools, applications, and systems while supporting policies, standards, and guidelines that strengthen secure and resilient operations.
  • Assist in deploying and protecting security systems, firewalls, vulnerability management tools, forensics utilities, and related infrastructure used by the information security function.
  • Help create plans that protect information from unauthorized access, alteration, or destruction and support business continuity.
  • Monitor and respond to cyber events and incidents, including malicious code, intrusion attempts, configuration issues, and patch-related problems.
  • Perform risk reviews and audits, and verify that security controls and system functionality meet policy and industry expectations.
  • Support cybersecurity awareness, training, and outreach across the organization.
  • Hold a BA or BS degree, or have at least 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Have at least 1 year of experience supporting or performing federal system security assessments.
  • Have at least 1 year of experience creating formal security documentation.
  • Have at least 1 year of experience identifying and remediating security findings.
  • Have at least 1 year of exposure to the SDLC.
  • Have at least 1 year of experience in release management or change management.
  • Understand the NIST SP 800-series security guidance well.
  • Be able to obtain or already hold an active clearance if required.
  • Be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Communicate clearly in both written and verbal form.
  • Work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
