Job description

Role Overview

OCT Consulting LLC is hiring a Junior Certified CMMC Assessor (CCA) to help expand its CMMC Certified Third-Party Assessment Organization (C3PAO) capability. In this role, you will participate in CMMC Level 2 certification assessments as part of the assessment team and work under the guidance of the Lead Certified CMMC Assessor.

What You Will Do

  • Take part in CMMC Level 2 certification assessment work as a team member under the Lead Assessor’s direction.
  • Review records and evidence, interview staff, and evaluate security controls against all 110 NIST SP 800-171 Rev. 2 requirements using NIST SP 800-171A methods.
  • Record assessment results and support MET, NOT MET, or NOT APPLICABLE decisions for assigned controls, backed by evidence.
  • Help prepare the assessment plan, confirm scope, and assist with pre-assessment readiness checks.
  • Contribute to the final assessment report and support POA&M closure activities within the required deadlines.
  • Manage assessment evidence and working papers in line with C3PAO procedures and ISO/IEC 17020:2012 requirements.
  • Follow the Cyber AB Code of Professional Conduct, including rules on conflicts of interest, ethics, and impartiality.

Requirements

  • You must be a U.S. citizen, since all personnel involved in the CMMC Level 2 certification process must complete a Tier 3 background investigation that leads to a national security eligibility decision.
  • An active CCA certification in good standing is required.
  • You must be able to receive and keep a favorable Tier 3 background investigation result; this is not a security clearance and is not for federal employment. The review includes credit, fingerprint, and law enforcement checks.
  • A bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity, information technology, information systems, or a related discipline is preferred, though equivalent professional experience may also qualify.
  • Experience of around 4 or more years in cybersecurity or information assurance is expected, with exposure to NIST SP 800-171 and CMMC.
  • You should understand NIST SP 800-171 Rev. 2, NIST SP 800-171A, 32 CFR Part 170, and DFARS 252.204-7012.
  • Extra credentials such as CompTIA Security+, CISSP, CISA, or CCP are considered an advantage.
  • Strong written documentation, analysis, and communication abilities are needed.
  • This role is remote-eligible, but you must be willing to travel to client sites when on-site assessment support is needed.

Compensation

The pay range is $35 to $50 per hour, depending on experience, education, and similar factors. The role may be offered as part-time or full-time.
