Junior Buyer

About the Role

Infinitesima, a cutting-edge technology company developing advanced metrology systems for the semiconductor industry, is seeking a Junior Buyer to join their Supply Chain team in Abingdon, Oxfordshire. This role offers a competitive salary ranging from £26,000 to £33,000 per year along with private medical insurance, an annual bonus, and an EMI scheme. Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Stores, and Quality teams to maintain a smooth supply chain operation.
• Create and manage purchase orders for technical components, materials, and services.
• Obtain quotations, evaluate costs and lead times, and place orders with authorized suppliers.
• Track open orders and proactively expedite deliveries to meet production requirements.
• Work with suppliers to address shortages, delays, pricing issues, and documentation discrepancies.
• Maintain accurate purchasing, supplier, and pricing records in the ERP system.
• Support supplier onboarding processes and identify new suppliers when needed.
• Assist with supplier performance evaluations and initiatives aimed at cost reduction.
• Help negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, and commercial terms with suppliers.
• Ensure all purchasing activities adhere to internal policies and approval protocols.

Candidate Profile

• Experience in purchasing, procurement, supply chain, or related administrative roles.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines effectively.
• Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
• Good numerical aptitude to analyze and compare quotations thoroughly.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
• A pragmatic, solution-oriented approach to work.
• Team player with collaborative mindset.
• Keen interest in developing a long-term career in procurement and supply chain management.

Additional Assets

• Experience in engineering, manufacturing, or technical sectors.
• Familiarity with ERP or MRP software systems.
• Hands-on experience with purchase order creation and supplier delivery management.
• Basic understanding of engineering drawings or technical specifications.
• Knowledge of supplier quality standards, compliance requirements, or import/export procedures.
• CIPS certifications or aspiration to obtain them.
