Role overview
This position sits within Global Banking & Markets Engineering and supports workforce and business management activities. The analyst helps maintain headcount governance, workforce planning, reporting, budgeting support, and operational coordination. The role works closely with partners across Business Management, Finance, Human Resources, Talent Acquisition, and Technology to improve data accuracy, transparency, and execution.
Scotiabank’s Global Banking and Markets business is a long-established capital markets and investment banking platform with an international footprint across the Americas. The team supports financing and strategic growth needs through a broad range of wholesale banking, trading, research, and market products.
Key responsibilities
The role covers workforce planning, contractor tracking, analytics, reporting, process improvement, and governance support. It is also expected to contribute to collaborative culture, risk awareness, and operational discipline.
Workforce planning and headcount governance
- Maintain workforce planning and headcount processes across the GBME function.
- Track changes in staffing, including hires, attrition, internal transfers, promotions, and broader workforce patterns.
- Support forecasting and capacity-planning exercises.
- Update dashboards and reports used to monitor organizational metrics.
- Review workforce trends and turn findings into useful observations and recommendations.
- Assist with organizational design and workforce optimization efforts.
Contractor management and resource tracking
- Handle contractor onboarding, exits, and conversion tracking.
- Monitor contractor usage and available workforce capacity.
- Keep contractor inventories current and support related reporting.
- Assist with vendor resource management activities.
- Coordinate with procurement and vendor management partners.
- Support contractor budget monitoring and forecasting.
Reporting and analytics
- Build and maintain dashboards for workforce and business management reporting.
- Prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly management reports.
- Study workforce and operational data to surface trends and insights.
- Develop executive presentation materials and reporting packs.
- Check that data remains accurate, consistent, and well-controlled across systems.
- Respond to executive and ad hoc reporting requests.
Process improvement and automation
- Identify opportunities to make workforce management and reporting processes more efficient.
- Support automation efforts that simplify reporting and workflow steps.
- Help standardize procedures and document them clearly.
- Contribute to continuous improvement across business management operations.
Risk, governance, and compliance
- Apply the organization’s risk appetite and risk culture in everyday work.
- Follow internal policies, procedures, and governance expectations.
- Maintain reporting that is auditable, controlled, and accurate.
- Support adherence to operational, regulatory, AML/ATF/sanctions, and conduct-risk requirements.
- Help strengthen internal controls within workforce and business management activities.
Collaboration and culture
- Take a client-centered approach that supports strong relationships and broader organizational collaboration.
- Work effectively with Finance, HR, Technology, and business stakeholders to align priorities and validate data.

Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Information Systems, Human Resources, Analytics, or a similar field is required.
- 1 to 3 years of experience in business analysis, workforce planning, financial analysis, reporting, operations, PMO, human resources, or a related area.
- Prior exposure to workforce planning, headcount management, or operational reporting is preferred.
- Experience in financial services, banking, technology, or consulting is preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
- Good attention to detail and solid organizational skills.
