Job description

Role overview

DKB Partners is looking for a driven Junior Associate to support its work with biotechnology, medical technology, and healthcare companies, with an emphasis on clients in the United States and Europe. This is a multifaceted support role at the crossroads of business, communications, healthcare, and finance. It is not a conventional public relations or marketing position.

The role involves working closely with the firm’s founder across investor relations, corporate communications, media relations, business development, and client account coordination. Since investor relations is still a developing field in Ghana, prior industry experience is not essential. What matters most is curiosity, strong communication, commercial understanding, careful attention to detail, and a willingness to learn a specialized area.

The selected candidate will be expected to learn how healthcare businesses raise capital, share clinical and commercial progress, connect with investors, manage their reputation, and position themselves in competitive global markets.

Key responsibilities

  • Research biotechnology, medical technology, healthcare, and investment organizations.
  • Identify and study potential investors, journalists, analysts, partners, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Help prepare investor outreach efforts and meeting materials.
  • Write and refine emails, company profiles, press materials, social media copy, briefing notes, and presentations.
  • Track developments across companies, industries, competitors, and capital markets.
  • Keep investor, media, and client records organized and up to date.
  • Assist with meeting preparation, follow-up, and account coordination for clients.
  • Support business development activities and proposal preparation.
  • Translate technical scientific and financial information into clear, persuasive communication.
  • Handle administrative and organizational work that helps client projects progress smoothly.
  • Be flexible enough to take on varied tasks across the business.

What the firm is looking for

The ideal candidate is an early-career professional who wants meaningful responsibility and exposure. Strong writing ability, excellent English, and an interest in business, finance, healthcare, communications, or entrepreneurship are important.

The role suits someone who is organized, dependable, detail-oriented, comfortable with deep research, quick to learn unfamiliar topics, and able to juggle multiple deadlines. Comfort with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and online research tools is expected.

Applicants should be open to feedback and continual improvement, and should be comfortable working with international clients across U.S. and European time zones. This is not a standard 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. local-hours role.

Education and experience

An undergraduate degree is required, preferably in business, finance, economics, communications, marketing, public relations, journalism, science, or a related field. Recent MBA graduates and candidates with postgraduate business qualifications are also welcome.

Backgrounds in communications, consulting, financial services, healthcare, research, media, or professional services can be helpful, but are not mandatory. Strong evidence of writing, research, leadership, internships, or entrepreneurial work will be an advantage.

What you will gain

This position offers exposure to areas that are rarely available in typical entry-level roles in Ghana, including global biotechnology and medtech markets, investor relations, fundraising strategy, corporate and financial communications, media relations, executive positioning, and international client management.

The learning curve will be demanding and will require initiative, discipline, discretion, and a genuine appetite for learning about unfamiliar companies, technologies, financial concepts, and healthcare markets. In return, the right person can grow into a key member of the firm, work directly with senior leaders, and build a highly distinctive professional skill set.

Application instructions

Applicants should send their CV, a short note explaining their interest in the role, and a writing sample if available. They should also include an example of a company, business trend, or industry development they have recently found interesting and explain why. Applications should be sent by email with the subject line: Junior Associate Application – [Your Name].
