Job Overview

The role of ITI Electrician at VIP Pharmaceuticals involves performing preventive, corrective, and breakdown electrical maintenance across all electrical systems, machinery, utilities, and supporting electronic and networking infrastructure in the pharmaceutical manufacturing plant. This position ensures smooth and uninterrupted operations with adherence to WHO-GMP standards, safety protocols, and internal SOPs under the guidance of the Engineering Manager and Maintenance Head.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute preventive and corrective maintenance on all electrical installations including LT panels, MCC panels, distribution boards, power and lighting systems, earthing, and electrical cabling.
  • Perform wiring tasks, cable terminations, and panel dressing activities.
  • Maintain electrical motors, pumps, blowers, exhaust systems, compressors, DG set electricals, UPS systems, battery banks, emergency lighting, and power backup systems.
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues in production and utility equipment to minimize downtime.
  • Support electrical maintenance for pharmaceutical machinery such as tablet compression, granulation, coating, blister packing, capsule filling equipment, water treatment plants, HVAC systems, chillers, air compressors, dust extraction units, material lifts, and other utility devices.
  • Diagnose and repair faults in electronic components including sensors, PLC I/Os, proximity sensors, limit switches, solenoid valves, temperature and PID controllers, timers, relays, SMPS, VFDs, HMI panels, electronic PCBs, and machine control circuits, coordinating with OEM engineers when required.
  • Provide basic networking and IT support involving LAN cable crimping, switch installation, router configuration, Wi-Fi access points, internet troubleshooting, CCTV and IP camera setup, NVR/DVR systems, printer and scanner installations, attendance machine connectivity, and ERP terminal support, assisting the IT team as needed.
  • Implement and adhere to preventive maintenance schedules, maintaining checklists, lubricating components, supporting calibration activities, and striving to reduce machine downtime.
  • Maintain detailed records of preventive and breakdown maintenance, electrical logs, daily reports, spare parts consumption, electrical load data, and equipment history in compliance with WHO-GMP documentation standards.
  • Adhere strictly to electrical safety procedures including Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO), proper use of PPE, housekeeping in electrical rooms, and compliance with GMP, GDP, and safety SOPs, immediately reporting any unsafe conditions.
  • Respond promptly to emergency electrical breakdowns and collaborate with Production, QA, and Engineering teams during audits and inspections.
  • Supervise contractors during electrical projects, recommend energy-saving initiatives, manage electrical spare inventory, assist in new machinery installation and commissioning, and perform other duties assigned by management.

Qualification & Experience

  • ITI certification in Electrician trade (NCVT/SCVT) is mandatory.
  • Wireman license and Diploma in Electrical Engineering are preferred.
  • Up to 2-5 years of relevant experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing is desirable, though fresh candidates with strong technical knowledge may be considered.

Technical & Behavioral Skills

  • Proficient in electrical wiring, industrial electrical systems, control panels, electrical drawing interpretation, and basics of PLC and VFD operations.
  • Skilled in electronics troubleshooting and maintenance of motors, HVAC electricals, DG sets, UPS systems, and networking basics including CCTV and computer hardware fundamentals.
  • Familiarity with MS Office for reporting.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with quick response to breakdown situations.
  • Demonstrates teamwork, good communication, positive attitude, self-motivation, discipline, punctuality, safety awareness, and ability to work under pressure.

Performance Indicators

  • Response time to machine breakdowns.
  • Completion of preventive maintenance as per schedule.
  • Reduction in downtime of machinery.

Work Conditions
