Italian Quality Assurance Lead

About the Role

We are seeking a remote Italian Quality Assurance Lead on a contract basis to oversee quality control, consistency, and training effectiveness across Italian AI training projects. This position involves reviewing AI-generated Italian content and evaluation work, assessing them against detailed guidelines, and providing clear written feedback to maintain high-quality standards. You will ensure contributors adhere strictly to quality requirements relating to accuracy, fluency, grammar, spelling, tone, cultural sensitivity, meaning preservation, formatting, and rubric compliance.

This leadership role also involves identifying recurring content issues, communicating updates to trainers and quality assessors, facilitating onboarding processes, maintaining comprehensive documentation, and re-engaging inactive contributors. By fulfilling this role, you will significantly contribute to the enhancement of top-tier AI models by guaranteeing natural, precise, culturally appropriate Italian training data that aligns with client expectations.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform spot-checks on Italian content to detect quality problems, provide direct feedback via messaging, and escalate significant or repeated issues.
• Communicate regularly on Discord with trainers and quality assurance personnel about guideline updates, workflow changes, and quality standards.
• Answer queries regarding Italian linguistic elements such as grammar, accents, register, verb moods, translation accuracy, terminology, and cultural nuances.
• Engage dormant contributors through direct messages, promote participation, monitor responses, and report availability challenges.
• Create, update, and manage documentation resources including style guides, trackers, FAQs, honeypots, and onboarding materials relevant to Italian projects.
• Organize and conduct onboarding and training sessions for new Italian contributors.
• Ensure strict adherence to Italian language guidelines throughout all stages of content creation and evaluation.
• Identify trends in quality deficiencies and recommend enhancements to QA workflows.

Candidate Profile

• Possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in fields such as Italian, Linguistics, Translation, Communications, Journalism, English, Education, Quality Assurance, or a closely related area.
• Native-level or near-native proficiency in Italian, with excellent reading and writing capabilities.
• Strong English language skills to interpret guidelines, communicate with teams, and provide clear feedback.
• At least three years of professional experience in areas like Italian writing, editing, translation, localization, content QA, AI training, education, or similar fields.
• Thorough knowledge of Italian grammar, spelling, punctuation, accents, grammatical agreements, verb moods, tone, style registers, and cultural context.
• Adept at evaluating Italian content per rubrics, identifying errors such as mistranslations, overly literal phrasing, unnatural tone, incorrect subjunctive use, hallucinated information, ambiguity, or inconsistent terminology.
• Prior experience leading or supporting remote teams of trainers, annotators, reviewers, editors, or QA professionals is highly desirable.
• Comfortable using tools like Discord, Google Sheets, Google Docs, project trackers, dashboards, and management systems.
• Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills to maintain style guides, FAQs, trackers, onboarding materials, honeypots, and documentation.
• Experience working with AI training data, data annotation, large language model evaluation, prompt/response assessment, or rubric-based LLM quality assurance is advantageous.

This is a contract position with no immediate project start; however, qualified candidates will be prioritized for future relevant opportunities as they arise. The selection process includes an AI-based interview, a domain-relevant task test, and a recruiter interview.
