Role Overview
This is a practical, on-site IT Support Technician position covering both Level 1 and Level 2 support. The role supports enterprise IT as well as operational technology (OT) systems at the Colac site. Because the position is business-critical, prompt response, reliable system availability, and excellent customer support are essential. Travel may be required to the Sunshine Plant and the Melbourne CBD head office.
Level 1 Support
- Serve as the initial contact for IT-related requests and issues.
- Provide assistance with desktops, laptops, mobile devices, printers, and other connected equipment.
- Diagnose and resolve problems with hardware, software, and operating systems.
- Handle user administration tasks such as Microsoft 365 access and password resets.
- Record, monitor, and prioritise incidents in the service desk platform.
- Guide users clearly and professionally while keeping communication open.
- Pass on more complex incidents to the appropriate support path when needed.
Level 2 Support
- Investigate and resolve more advanced or repeated technical problems.
- Support servers, infrastructure components, and core business systems.
- Set up, configure, and maintain IT hardware and network equipment.
- Assist with OT systems while following approved security and change procedures.
- Support upgrades, patching activities, and broader system enhancements.
- Coordinate with external vendors and service partners.
- Contribute to projects and improvement initiatives across the site.
Governance, Security and Compliance
- Work in line with IT policies, standards, and operating procedures.
- Follow established change management and security requirements.
- Help maintain the security, availability, and integrity of systems.
- Observe workplace health and safety obligations at all times.
- Spot risks or potential security issues and escalate them promptly.
Candidate Profile
- You bring at least 2 years of experience in IT support or a similar technical role.
- You have strong diagnostic thinking and a practical approach to problem-solving.
- You are comfortable working with Microsoft 365 and enterprise IT environments.
- You can operate independently in a site-based setting.
- You communicate well and deliver a high standard of customer service.
- You hold a valid driver’s licence.
- Experience in manufacturing or OT environments is an advantage.
- Multi-site support experience would also be beneficial.
