Job description

Overview

Symless IT is seeking a knowledgeable and meticulous IT Support Technician to join their team in Fort McMurray, Alberta. The successful candidate will be tasked with maintaining and improving computer systems and network infrastructure, ensuring robust and secure technological operations.

Key Duties

  • Communicate clearly with users both remotely and onsite to identify and address technical problems.
  • Use technical documentation and resources to research and implement effective solutions.
  • Diagnose and resolve user-reported technical issues promptly.
  • Provide user assistance and guidance to overcome technical challenges.
  • Support small business IT systems, including networking, printers, and internet connectivity.
  • Maintain an organized log of technical problems and solutions for reference.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to offer direction to other technical support personnel as needed.
  • Monitor computer and network system performance regularly.
  • Execute data backup and disaster recovery operations.
  • Configure local area networks and internet connections and troubleshoot related problems.

Experience and Skills

  • Proven background as a Computer Technician or similar IT support role.
  • Familiarity with Windows and Mac operating systems.
  • Preferred experience with network monitoring tools such as SolarWinds.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, able to work independently or collaboratively.
  • Effective communication skills to assist users of varying technical knowledge levels.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Hourly pay rate of $22 to $25
  • Availability of bonus and overtime pay

Work Schedule and Conditions

  • Day, morning, evening shifts
  • On-call responsibilities
  • Possible overtime and weekend work as required

Language and Education

  • French language skills are optional
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
