Job description

About the company

Helsing is a defence-focused AI company with a mission to help protect democratic societies. Its goal is to build technological strength so open societies can keep making sovereign decisions and uphold their own ethical standards.

The organisation takes the development and deployment of advanced technologies such as AI seriously, and places strong emphasis on thoughtful, responsible use. It brings together engineers, AI experts, and client-facing programme managers in a culture that values open discussion, constructive challenge, and serious reflection on the role of technology in defence.

Role overview

In this position, you will act as the primary point of contact for everyday IT support in the UK or German office. Your work will help employees stay productive by resolving issues quickly, managing devices and accounts across their lifecycle, and making sure meeting rooms, endpoints, and SaaS tools operate smoothly. You will collaborate closely with the wider IT Engineering team to reduce repeat issues through automation and process improvement, contributing directly to the internal IT experience across Helsing.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver end-user support through Slack, email, and in-person assistance for hardware, software, identity, and connectivity problems on macOS, Windows, and iOS.
  • Track, prioritise, and resolve tickets in Jira Service Management, keeping users informed and escalating more complex cases to IT Engineering when needed.
  • Handle the complete employee and device journey, including onboarding, offboarding, joiner-mover-leaver processes, MDM enrolment, account setup, and access checks.
  • Maintain local conferencing equipment, meeting rooms, printers, and other office IT assets, and provide practical support for company events and all-hands meetings.
  • Administer day-to-day activity in Microsoft 365 platforms such as Entra ID, Exchange, SharePoint, and Teams, along with other internal SaaS applications.
  • Create and improve documentation, runbooks, and self-service knowledge articles to extend the reach of the IT team.
  • Spot recurring problems and work with IT Engineering on longer-term solutions and automation opportunities.

Candidate profile

  • At least 3 years of experience in IT support, ideally with L2/L3 responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Practical experience supporting macOS, Windows, and iOS, plus a strong understanding of identity, endpoint, and SaaS troubleshooting.
  • A genuine interest in solving technical issues, learning new tools, and helping other people work effectively.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities calmly and stay organised in a changing environment.
  • A proactive approach that anticipates issues before they become incidents or service tickets.
  • Excellent communication and a customer-oriented mindset with a focus on user experience.
  • Alignment with the company’s values: ownership, initiative, mission focus, speed, and inclusiveness.
  • Strong conviction that democracies should be able to defend their sovereignty through capable deterrence and decisive action.

Encouragement to apply

Helsing notes that women and other under-represented groups are often underrepresented in this field. Candidates are encouraged to apply even if they do not meet every listed qualification, as ability and impact cannot be fully captured in bullet points alone.

Nice-to-have experience

  • Experience administering Microsoft 365, especially Entra ID, Exchange, and SharePoint.
  • Exposure to mobile device management platforms such as Intune, Jamf, or JumpCloud.
  • Ability to use PowerShell or Python to automate repetitive tasks.
  • Understanding of networking basics, Zero Trust concepts, and VPN troubleshooting.
  • Background in a fast-growing startup, scale-up, or similarly dynamic environment.
  • Experience in regulated and security-conscious settings such as defence, government, or finance.

What the company offers

  • A working style centred on outcomes rather than time tracking.
  • Competitive pay together with VSOP options.
  • Relocation assistance.
  • Social and education allowances.
  • Regular company events and all-hands gatherings that connect employees across Europe.
  • A structured onboarding programme called “Infraduction,” where new joiners build internal tooling and applications, learn the company’s technology stack, and work with other engineering teams from the start.
