Role overview
A full-time, entry-level IT Support Officer / IT Help Desk Officer is needed for an on-site role in Australia. The position is focused on helping employees with day-to-day technical issues, keeping end-user devices running smoothly, and supporting the wider IT environment.
What you will do
- Act as the first point of contact for technical issues covering hardware, software, and network concerns.
- Handle support requests raised through the help desk, email, phone calls, or in-person conversations.
- Set up, install, and look after desktops, laptops, printers, mobile devices, and other IT assets.
- Create and manage user accounts, email access, permissions, and workstation settings.
- Diagnose problems related to operating systems, business applications, and network connectivity.
- Assist with deploying software, applying updates, installing patches, and carrying out routine system upkeep.
- Refer more complex issues to senior IT staff when specialist intervention is required.
- Keep clear records of incidents, resolutions, and IT equipment inventory.
- Help uphold security controls such as endpoint protection, password practices, and user awareness.
- Suggest and support improvements that make IT support more efficient and user-friendly.
What we are looking for
- A diploma or bachelor’s qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related area.
- Working knowledge of Windows environments, Microsoft 365, and standard office applications.
- Understanding of computer hardware, peripherals, basic networking, and troubleshooting methods.
- Exposure to Active Directory, account administration, or other basic IT administration tasks is helpful.
- Foundational understanding of networking basics such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and Wi‑Fi.
- Strong analytical ability with a service-minded approach to supporting users.
- Clear communication and good interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage priorities and work both independently and collaboratively.
- Prior exposure through an internship, IT certifications such as CompTIA A+, ITIL Foundation, or Microsoft certifications, or earlier IT support work will be considered an advantage.
