Role summary
The IT Administrator will support day-to-day technology operations at the office. This role includes hands-on help desk support, hardware and software maintenance, Microsoft 365 and server administration support, cybersecurity assistance, and coordination with external vendors on larger technology initiatives. It is an entry-level, fully onsite position designed to build a strong foundation for future growth in systems administration, cloud administration, cybersecurity, or IT management.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver first-line support for Windows desktops and laptops, including setup, configuration, troubleshooting, and routine maintenance.
- Manage Microsoft 365 and Active Directory accounts, including licenses, permissions, and security groups.
- Support Microsoft Exchange Online, Teams, Zoom, SharePoint, and OneDrive.
- Help administer and maintain Windows Server environments such as Active Directory, Group Policy, and file services.
- Set up and troubleshoot printers, conference room systems, network devices, and other connected equipment.
- Support employee onboarding and offboarding by creating accounts, preparing devices, and configuring workstations.
- Keep hardware, software, license, and technology asset inventories accurate and up to date.
- Assist users with proprietary applications used across the organization.
- Work with managed service providers, software vendors, and technology consultants on escalations and implementation efforts.
- Support cybersecurity work such as endpoint protection, patching, vulnerability remediation, backups, and security best practices.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation and standard operating procedures.
- Contribute to technology upgrades and special projects.
Requirements
- An associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related area is preferred, or equivalent professional experience.
- One to three years of experience in IT support, help desk, desktop support, internships, or junior systems administration.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical ability.
- Clear customer service and communication skills.
- Good organization and the ability to juggle multiple priorities.
- A willingness to keep learning and developing professionally.
- Must be able to work fully onsite in the office.
Preferred technical exposure
Useful experience includes working knowledge of Windows 10 and Windows 11, with Mac OS as an added advantage. Familiarity with Microsoft 365 administration, including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive, is preferred. Experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, and file shares is also valuable. Knowledge of audio/visual systems for conference rooms and virtual meetings, along with computer hardware installation and troubleshooting, will be helpful.
