About the Role
This position is designed for someone at the beginning of their IT career, including recent graduates and candidates with junior-level experience. You will help keep technology running smoothly by delivering technical support, assisting with system upkeep, and supporting everyday office IT operations. The role includes close collaboration with experienced IT colleagues so you can build practical knowledge in support and infrastructure tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the first point of contact for basic issues involving hardware, software, and network connectivity.
- Diagnose and assist with problems related to desktops, laptops, printers, and internet/network access.
- Help with the setup, configuration, and ongoing maintenance of computers, peripherals, and software tools.
- Support user onboarding tasks such as account creation, password resets, and access permissions.
- Contribute to the maintenance of office networking, Wi‑Fi, and simple server environments.
- Record, manage, and monitor support requests through a ticketing platform.
- Pass on more complex incidents to senior IT team members when required.
- Assist in tracking IT assets, stock, and equipment inventory.
- Support routine activities such as software patching, updates, and system maintenance.
- Work according to internal IT guidelines, procedures, and security standards.
Requirements
- A diploma or bachelor’s qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a closely related area.
- Fundamental knowledge of computer hardware, operating systems such as Windows or macOS, and common applications.
- Basic familiarity with networking concepts like IP addressing, DNS, and Wi‑Fi.
- Genuine interest in learning and developing IT support skills.
- Good troubleshooting mindset with strong analytical thinking.
- Effective verbal and written communication, along with interpersonal skills.
- Comfort working in a collaborative, team-based environment.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office or Google Workspace tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior internship or practical exposure in helpdesk or IT support work.
- Experience using ticketing platforms such as Jira Service Desk, ServiceNow, or Freshservice.
- Basic awareness of cybersecurity principles.
- Exposure to cloud productivity environments like Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace administration.
- Industry certifications such as CompTIA A+ or similar credentials are an added advantage.
