Role overview
We are seeking a motivated junior-level IT Support Officer to help keep workplace technology running smoothly. This position is ideal for someone beginning a career in information technology and looking for practical experience in a customer-facing support environment.
Key responsibilities
- Act as the first point of contact for issues involving hardware, software, and basic network connectivity.
- Set up, install, and maintain desktops, laptops, printers, and other connected devices.
- Diagnose technical faults and handle support tickets promptly and professionally.
- Help staff with user account creation, password resets, and permission/access requests.
- Support Microsoft 365 tools, email platforms, and everyday productivity applications.
- Keep clear and accurate logs of incidents, resolutions, and IT equipment records.
- Refer more complex issues to senior IT staff or third-party vendors when needed.
- Assist with software updates, routine maintenance, backups, and broader IT improvement tasks.
Requirements
- Working knowledge of computer hardware, software, operating systems, and basic networking principles.
- Comfort with Windows environments and Microsoft Office / Microsoft 365 applications.
- Good troubleshooting ability and a practical approach to problem-solving.
- Strong communication skills and a service-oriented mindset.
- Ability to handle several requests at once and prioritize effectively.
- Careful attention to detail and an eagerness to learn new tools and technologies.
- An IT qualification, certification, or technical training is helpful.
- Experience in a help desk or IT support role is an advantage, though not essential.
