Role Overview

The IT Specialist will manage day-to-day IT operations globally, ensuring secure, dependable technology and timely support for staff. Responsibilities include resolving hardware and software issues, safeguarding company data, managing user access, and overseeing IT equipment and licenses. Reporting to the Director of People, this role suits a hands-on professional adept at technical troubleshooting and strategic IT management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as primary IT contact for staff, swiftly resolving hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
  • Prepare and configure laptops, mobile devices, and peripherals for new hires; manage device returns for departing staff.
  • Keep precise records of IT assets and licenses, coordinate repairs and vendor engagement.
  • Create and maintain an internal knowledge base documenting common issues and resolutions.
  • Manage user accounts and access permissions across cloud platforms such as Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, and Slack, adjusting for role changes.
  • Maintain accuracy of distribution lists, shared mailboxes, and Google Groups memberships.
  • Oversee access rights for shared drives in line with role requirements and conduct anomaly reviews.
  • Manage the SaaS tool stack, tracking subscriptions, managing renewals, and evaluating new or redundant tools.
  • Track IT vendor contracts and budgets, raising renewal or budget issues to leadership.
  • Deploy and monitor antivirus and endpoint security software on all company devices; respond to basic security alerts and escalate complex incidents.
  • Conduct regular security hygiene audits covering software updates, patching, and adherence to password policies.
  • Provide straightforward security awareness training to staff covering phishing, safe browsing, and password best practices.
  • Implement and support data management practices including organization, storage, and secure handling of sensitive data, aligned with company and country-specific standards.
  • Serve as liaison with external IT vendors, ISPs, and global engineering teams.
  • Assist with office relocations, equipment rollouts, and events requiring IT support.
  • Recommend improvements to IT policies, tools, and processes to support organizational growth.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • At least 5 years’ experience in IT support, systems administration, or IT operations.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related discipline.
  • Expertise supporting both Windows and macOS platforms.
  • Experience in Tier 2 or similar technical support roles.
  • Hands-on experience with antivirus and endpoint protection technologies and cybersecurity fundamentals.
  • Skills in administrating Microsoft 365 and/or Google Workspace environments.
  • Experience supporting distributed or multi-country teams remotely.
  • Solid understanding of networking protocols and technologies: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, Wi-Fi, and routing.
  • Knowledge in endpoint detection and response (EDR) and basic cybersecurity operations.
  • Proficiency in user administration, identity and access management including MFA.
  • Competency in IT asset management and SaaS application administration.

  • Familiarity with basic scripting and automation for IT routines.
  • Experience in start-up or rapidly scaling organizations.
