Job overview
The IT Pillar Specialist will act as a Hexagon S3D Administrator, supporting administration work for HEXAGON S3D projects. The role includes setting up S3D projects, handling routine administration tasks, and supporting the delivery of project outputs. It also involves evaluating potential solutions with standard methods while building practical knowledge of the company, its workflows, and its clients. Experience with AVEVA Engineering and AVEVA Net/AIM will be considered an advantage.
Key responsibilities
- Carry out customization work for HEXAGON S3D.
- Create and maintain S3D catalogs.
- Manage piping specifications and catalogs with a strong grasp of piping rules.
- Develop catalogs for equipment, electrical, instrumentation, and structural disciplines.
- Create symbols as needed.
- Handle isometric customization tasks.
- Customize piping isometrics, including label creation.
- Develop view styles.
- Create GA drawing view styles for piping, electrical, instrumentation, and structural disciplines.
- Prepare reports and related outputs.
- Maintain a strong understanding of S3D interfaces and class relationships.
- Build detailed reports using COM; report development with VB.Net or C# is an added benefit.
- Create custom commands using C# and VB.Net.
- Perform administration and setup activities.
- Configure GWC properly.
- Handle S3D setup tasks, including database restoration, permission groups, and system hierarchy configuration.
- Set up interference checks and codeless interference rules.
- Create naming rules.
- Build filters, surface style rules, and review files such as SPR and Navisworks.
- Work with SQL and Oracle servers and databases.
- Resolve designer issues and support modelling procedures.
- Develop practical modelling best practices and troubleshooting approaches.
- Work with Aveva 3D or other SmartPlant tools when required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related discipline.
- Between 5 and 15 years of experience in S3D administration.
- Strong understanding of engineering practices and project execution concepts.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Working knowledge of the business units or processes supported by the application.
- Deep understanding of Aveva 3D or another SmartPlant tool.
- Ability to perform functional testing of applications.
- Clear understanding of data usage, workflows, and outputs.
