Job description
Role overview
This contract role is for a practical, hands-on IT Helpdesk Officer who will provide first-line support in a mixed Microsoft and Apple environment. The position suits someone who enjoys solving technical issues, assisting users directly, handling devices, and acting as a reliable point of contact for everyday IT needs.
Work arrangement
The assignment is based in Sydney CBD and follows a hybrid setup, with 2 to 3 days each week required in the office. Although the office attendance is flexible, the role itself is a full-time 38-hour-per-week position rather than a part-time job. The contract length is 10 weeks, and the start is immediate.
Compensation
The pay rate is $450 per day, including superannuation.
Key duties
The role centres on Level 1 helpdesk support and general end-user assistance across Windows and macOS devices. It also involves device administration, troubleshooting, and support for Microsoft 365 and related workplace technology.
Essential experience and capabilities
The employer is looking for candidates with proven experience as a service desk operator and system administrator in environments that include Microsoft and Apple/macOS technologies. Strong communication skills, a customer-first approach, and the ability to maintain high user satisfaction are important. Experience with Windows 11, Microsoft 365 administration, Active Directory, logon scripts, and Group Policy is required, along with solid skills in installation, configuration, upgrades, and troubleshooting. The ideal candidate should also be analytical, confident in problem-solving, committed to continuous improvement, and comfortable working within a flexible team environment.
Preferred skills
Additional exposure to Entra ID, VMware, Veeam, Linux (Ubuntu), and hybrid Microsoft 365 / Active Directory environments is considered an advantage.
Additional information
The role offers an opportunity to work with a collaborative team in a Sydney CBD office and gain broader exposure to infrastructure, systems administration, and end-user support.
Eligibility
Applicants must have full Australian working rights. Sponsorship is not available for this position.
Application note
Interested candidates are invited to submit their CV to the recruitment contact provided in the source listing.
