Role Overview

A prominent Australian investment firm located in the Sydney CBD is seeking an Investment Operations Analyst to join their team. This role focuses on managing risk and compliance aspects within investment operations, supporting trade settlements, portfolio reconciliations, and ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the full trade lifecycle, including capturing trades accurately, overseeing settlements, and generating reports.
  • Communicate with custodians, brokers, and counterparties to address settlement issues promptly.
  • Perform daily reconciliations of cash and positions across investment portfolios, resolving discrepancies.
  • Track and process corporate actions such as dividends and interest payments.
  • Compile regular investment performance reports for both internal staff and external parties.
  • Drive efficiency by supporting automation of data flows and reporting mechanisms.
  • Maintain and update investment data using platforms like LSEG Alphadesk.
  • Handle cash flow processing, income, expenses, and corporate action events accurately.
  • Ensure accurate maintenance of static data including setup for brokers, funds, and standing settlement instructions (SSI).
  • Support compliance monitoring to ensure adherence to regulatory standards and internal policies.
  • Help implement risk management procedures by identifying operational risks and escalating as needed.
  • Monitor compliance with investment mandates and guidelines.
  • Collaborate with other departments to enhance operational workflows and reduce manual inefficiencies.
  • Participate in testing and upgrading investment operations systems.
  • Act as a liaison between internal teams and external partners regarding operational matters.
  • Coordinate closely with portfolio managers, accountants, and IT to align operational objectives.

Experience and Skills Required

  • 2 to 4 years of relevant experience in investment operations, preferably with a fund manager, administrator, or custodian.
  • Familiarity with Omgeo, DTCC, and LSEG Alphadesk systems.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong understanding of fund structures and performance metrics.
  • Capability to establish and maintain effective control frameworks.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to manage multiple stakeholders.
