Job description
Role overview
An elite boutique investment bank is hiring an Investment Banking Associate to join its New York FinTech group. The team focuses on advising fast-growing, innovative businesses and financial sponsors on sophisticated strategic transactions. In this role, you will work side by side with senior bankers on prominent mergers and acquisitions, fundraising assignments, and broader advisory engagements across the financial technology space.
This position offers meaningful exposure to clients, ownership of deliverables, and hands-on execution experience while working with some of the most active companies and investors in the sector.
Sector coverage
The team’s coverage spans a wide range of FinTech subsectors, including payments and payment infrastructure, merchant acquiring and embedded payments, digital banking and challenger banks, banking technology and core banking software, vertical SaaS and financial software, lending and specialty finance platforms, WealthTech and asset management technology, market infrastructure and exchange technology, digital assets and blockchain infrastructure, and crypto exchanges, custody, and institutional digital asset platforms.
What you will do
- Build financial models, valuation work, and transaction support materials.
- Create merger models, discounted cash flow analyses, leveraged buyout models, trading comparable analyses, and precedent transaction analyses.
- Run day-to-day execution for live M&A, capital raising, and strategic advisory processes.
- Prepare client decks, marketing collateral, and board-ready documents.
- Manage due diligence workflows and oversee data room organization.
- Collaborate with senior bankers, clients, legal counsel, and other deal participants.
- Perform detailed research on companies and industry trends across the FinTech landscape.
- Support business development efforts and help originate new client relationships.
- Guide and review Analysts’ work to maintain quality and efficient delivery.
Candidate profile
The ideal hire brings 3 to 5 years of investment banking experience, especially in M&A advisory and transaction execution. Prior exposure to FinTech, FIG, Technology, or a similar sector is strongly preferred.
Additional requirements
You should have strong financial modelling and valuation capability, a solid grasp of M&A workflows and capital markets transactions, and the ability to handle several active projects in a high-pressure environment. Excellent analytical, writing, and speaking skills are required, along with strong attention to detail and a consistent drive for high standards. Comfort working with senior executives and founders is important.
A bachelor’s degree from a top university is expected. Advanced qualifications are helpful but not mandatory.
