Role Overview

Join William Blair, a premier global partnership, as an Investment Banking Analyst in the Technology sector based in London. This position involves performing detailed financial analyses to support business development, transaction execution, and delivery of investment banking services to clients and prospects. Analysts will engage in financial modeling, apply valuation methodologies, conduct due diligence, and collaborate closely with clients to advance projects while mentoring junior team members.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive financial and valuation analyses to assess debt and equity in mergers, acquisitions, and capital raising deals, developing diverse analytic approaches.
  • Construct financial models to evaluate clients and industries using techniques such as comparable companies, precedents, and discounted cash flow, effectively communicating model outcomes.
  • Perform due diligence and research on both potential and ongoing transactions, identifying issues and escalating them appropriately.
  • Prepare management presentations summarizing financial and research findings.
  • Assist in creating proposals and marketing materials that emphasize William Blair's investment banking methodologies and advantages for client presentations.
  • Participate actively in client meetings and drafting sessions.
  • Research targeted industries or sectors under guidance from senior bankers and contribute to content optimization and knowledge sharing across deals.
  • Propose improvements to workflows and seek efficiencies to streamline task completion.
  • Support client relationships by understanding needs, delivering responsive service, and anticipating information requirements.
  • Develop insights into macroeconomic factors affecting client industries and banking products.
  • Provide mentorship to summer interns and junior analysts to cultivate best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, policies, and procedures in all activities.
  • Complete additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree is mandatory.
  • Prior internship or professional experience in financial services is preferred.
  • Strong academic record demonstrating attention to detail and analytical aptitude.
  • Excellent skills in mathematics, writing, verbal communication, and computer proficiency.
  • Adaptability to new tasks with minimal notice and ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • A strong competitive drive and growing sound judgment.
  • Deep understanding of accounting and financial principles.
  • Commitment to meeting the expectations of both internal and external clients.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 5% of the time.
