Job description
About the opportunity
An established, well-funded asset management business with institutional support is hiring an Investment Associate for its Sydney team. The platform has a respected private equity program that invests internationally through mid-market co-investments as well as primary and secondary fund commitments, working with leading GPs on behalf of one of Australia’s major superannuation funds.
This is a true front-line investing position with meaningful responsibility from the outset. You will be involved throughout the deal and fund lifecycle, supported by a team with a strong GP network, active deal flow, and a long-term mandate to put substantial capital to work.
What you will do
- Review co-investment opportunities, run due diligence, and support transaction execution
- Identify and assess GPs and fund managers through sourcing, diligence, and selection work
- Track portfolio performance, assist with valuations, and contribute to reporting
- Prepare investment committee materials and carry out internal research
- Build market maps across sectors and geographies worldwide
What the employer is seeking
The ideal candidate brings two to four years of experience in a corporate finance-related field such as private equity, investment banking, leveraged finance, M&A advisory, management consulting, or a similar area.
Strong financial modelling and analytical skills are important, along with sound commercial judgement and an investor-oriented mindset that goes beyond purely quantitative analysis.
A real interest in private markets and global mid-market investing is essential. Exposure to international markets or mid-market transactions will be viewed positively.
Why this role stands out
- Work on a globally diversified private equity program with a strong GP network and steady deal flow
- Join a lean, collaborative team with direct access to senior leaders
- Contribute directly to investment outcomes rather than working in a purely support capacity
- Opportunity to grow into a larger role as the program expands
