Role overview
This opening is for an Associate within the Securities Selection group in the Active Equities function, with a focus on companies in the Consumer Discretionary sector. The role reports to the Managing Director, Active Equities - Consumer Discretionary, and centers on in-depth, bottom-up fundamental research focused mainly on investment ideas and current portfolio holdings. The position is based in New York.
The Active Equities team invests in large-cap public and pre-IPO equities across North America, Europe, Asia, and Latin America. Its strategy relies on deep fundamental research to build a concentrated, market-neutral portfolio of high-conviction long and short positions. The Security Selection team operates globally and aims to generate differentiated insights through specialized domain expertise.
What you'll do
- Gather industry, market, and asset-level information as well as financial data to support research efforts.
- Develop relationships with industry contacts and management teams.
- Carry out fundamental research and share investment ideas with the wider team.
- Complete financial, company, and sector due diligence to assess opportunity quality and associated risks.
- Create company financial models and valuation analyses, and use statistical methods to inform investment choices.
- Contribute to investment assessments by sharing views on overall attractiveness based on diligence findings.
- Prepare detailed investment materials with the team, including sector summaries, investment theses, and due diligence reports.
- Take part in presenting recommendations to the Investment Committee and Board when needed.
- Help develop, execute, and monitor existing portfolio positions.
- Support the onboarding of new assets into the portfolio by identifying benchmarks, building models, and providing strong project coordination.
What we're looking for
- A bachelor's degree or college diploma in a relevant discipline.
- An advanced qualification or CFA designation is considered an advantage.
- Three to five years of relevant professional experience.
- Strong ability in research, analysis, financial modeling, valuation, and problem solving, with the capacity to think creatively.
- Experience in transaction-oriented settings, including acquisitions, due diligence, and/or asset management support.
- Advanced computer skills, particularly with MS Excel and MS PowerPoint.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills.
Compensation and benefits
The posted base salary range for this position is USD 145,000 to USD 212,000. The overall rewards package is described as competitive and includes comprehensive benefits, a performance-based incentive plan, a 401(k) plan, and paid time off. Final compensation may fall above or below the stated range depending on factors such as experience and expertise.
Additional information
The ideal candidate is motivated by work that contributes to a larger purpose, approaches complex problems carefully and rigorously, and maintains very high standards in a collaborative, performance-focused setting.
