Job description
About the Company
Emergence is a permanent-capital investment platform supported by the Pritzker Organization. The firm concentrates on acquiring and expanding software companies that lead their categories, using focused portfolios, strong sector knowledge, and repeatable operating methods. Its approach blends long-term ownership with a growth-equity style, working side by side with management teams to improve ARR, strengthen profitability, and deliver better customer results.
Role Overview
The Investment Analyst will help drive the full investment diligence process from the first review of a target through to the investment committee memo. The role supports several transactions each quarter and requires strong analytical judgment, organization, and clear communication.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed financial and operational diligence on potential acquisition targets, highlighting both risks and upside opportunities.
- Create and update financial models for SaaS businesses, including unit economics, operating leverage, and key performance indicators.
- Develop quality of earnings analyses and net working capital bridge work to support valuation accuracy.
- Write investment committee materials that turn diligence findings into concise, decision-ready recommendations.
- Assist with transaction structuring and execution while coordinating closely with legal, finance, and operating stakeholders.
- Keep coverage models and sourcing tools current as the deal pipeline expands.
Requirements
- 1 to 3 years of experience in investment banking, private equity, growth equity, or corporate development.
- Practical experience building financial models for SaaS or enterprise software companies.
- Excellent written communication skills with the ability to translate complex diligence into a clear IC memo.
- Strong organization and dependability when handling several workstreams at once under time pressure.
- Familiarity with majority buyout structures and deal negotiation is preferred.
- Exposure to quality of earnings work and working capital adjustments is a plus.
- Previous experience with a software-focused private equity or growth equity firm is advantageous.
What Success Looks Like
The ideal candidate follows through on commitments, raises concerns early, and is comfortable having financial models challenged and improved. They proactively dig into data rooms, form independent views on business quality, and back those views with evidence.
Compensation and Benefits
- Competitive base salary with performance-linked carry participation.
- Direct involvement across the entire deal lifecycle.
Location and Work Arrangement
This role is based onsite, with opportunities listed for New York, San Francisco, and Toronto.
