Job Overview

The Inventory Specialist is a crucial member of the Production team, charged with ensuring accurate inventory management, leading material handling personnel, supporting material flow for production needs, and overseeing all phases of materials handling—from receipt through storage, issuance, audit, and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise, instruct, and organize material handlers to align with daily shop priorities.
  • Collaborate with production staff, master scheduler, purchasing, and operations teams to guarantee material availability.
  • Keep precise inventory records of sheet goods, extrusions, hardware, fabricated parts, consumables, and WIP within the ERP system.
  • Handle receipt, issuance, transfers, and inventory adjustments following established ERP procedures.
  • Conduct frequent cycle counts and audits for all inventory items to maintain accuracy.
  • Analyze discrepancies in inventory and coordinate with relevant departments to address underlying causes.
  • Manage bin locations, material identification, minimum and maximum stock levels, and item data.
  • Track incoming materials, production shortages, and job staging necessities.
  • Oversee movement logistics of raw materials, fabricated parts, and finished products throughout the facility.
  • Use Excel for preparing and sustaining detailed inventory reports, shortage logs, count sheets, and tracking documents.
  • Promptly report any shortages, excesses, damaged items, and scheduling risks.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma mandatory.
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business, operations, or related discipline preferred.
  • At least 2 to 5 years of experience in inventory management, warehouse operations, or materials handling within a manufacturing environment is required.
