Job description

Role Overview

A fashion-industry client is looking to urgently hire a capable Inventory Officer in Lagos. The role focuses on keeping stock accurate, preventing shortages or overstock, and supporting smooth warehouse and distribution operations.

Key Duties

  • Improve and streamline inventory control practices to make stock handling more efficient.
  • Check supply and raw-material levels regularly to spot gaps early.
  • Make sure stock levels are sufficient for all sales and distribution channels, including direct customer demand.
  • Log incoming deliveries and outgoing shipments to keep inventory records aligned with actual movements.
  • Use inventory software to track demand patterns and capture item details.
  • Raise replenishment orders in time to avoid stockouts or unnecessary excess.
  • Study inventory data to predict future stock needs.
  • Keep accurate records of goods received and items released from the warehouse.
  • Assess suppliers to secure good-value deals while maintaining dependable working relationships.
  • Oversee unloading, storage, and arrangement of stock, merchandise, and consignments so items are easy to locate and access.
  • Match physical stock counts against system records and resolve discrepancies.
  • Prepare reports for damaged, spoiled, or otherwise adjusted inventory.
  • Work closely with warehouse staff and other teams to support business targets.
  • Update senior management on stock position, issues, and related matters.

Requirements

  • A BSc/BA in Business Administration, Logistics, or a related discipline.
  • Between 2 and 5 years of experience in inventory control or a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of data analysis and forecasting techniques.
  • Practical experience with inventory management systems such as ERP.
  • Ability to monitor stock accurately and produce clear reports.
  • Strong numerical ability and an analytical approach to problem-solving.
  • Excellent planning and organizational capabilities.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Dependable, discreet, and trustworthy.
  • Professional certifications such as CPIM will be an added advantage.
