Job description
Role overview
This internship sits within Deutsche Bank’s Technology, Data & Innovation function in Berlin. It is intended to help you build practical skills through structured learning, ongoing guidance, and hands-on work on meaningful projects. The placement lasts between 2 and 6 months, with the exact timing arranged individually.
Technology is central to the bank’s operations and plays a major role in how it serves clients and modernises its internal platforms. The TDI strategy focuses on strengthening engineering capabilities, introducing agile ways of working, and updating IT infrastructure with cloud technologies and AI-enabled tools. The team is expanding with technology talent that can contribute to innovation during a period of major industry change.
What you will do
You will work from the Berlin Technology Centre, a team environment centred on technical excellence and innovation in financial services. The internship is designed to let you develop digital capabilities while contributing to real initiatives that support the bank’s strategic systems and client-facing work.
The exact work depends on the team you join and the length of your internship. Possible areas include backend development, frontend development, full-stack engineering, DevOps, QA and automation, product design (UX/UI), and business analysis.
You should expect to work on agile projects, learn programming languages, and help shape innovative products and technical solutions using modern software and hardware.
What the bank is looking for
The internship is aimed at students who are eager to grow professionally and bring creativity, adaptability, and strong analytical thinking to a diverse workplace. Collaboration and openness to learning are important throughout the programme.
Applicants should be studying computer science, mathematics, industrial engineering, or another scientifically oriented discipline with a strong IT focus. Interest in technology innovation and financial topics is also important. Prior practical exposure, particularly in programming, will be an advantage.
Strong communication skills and fluent English are expected. The ideal candidate is responsible, committed, comfortable working in a team, and able to understand new concepts quickly.
Benefits and support
The programme includes competitive pay, flexible working arrangements, and, where the role allows, partially remote working. You will also have access to professional skills training and a learning portal. Interns may benefit from ongoing engagement through community and networking activities, and you will be supported by an experienced mentor and a graduate buddy from your first day.
Working environment
Deutsche Bank aims to build a workplace where people feel included, respected, and able to develop. Teams are expected to value different backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences, and to encourage open discussion and collaboration.
The organisation also promotes strong conduct standards, good working relationships, and a work environment that is free from harassment, discrimination, and retaliation. Flexible work arrangements and other workplace initiatives may be discussed further.
Application requirements
When applying, you should provide your current CV, transcripts of records covering A-levels and university, internship or work references, and either a certificate of enrollment or a declaration of intent to begin further studies.
Important notice
A recruitment scams notice is included with this opportunity.
