Role Overview

As an International Field Officer, you will undergo initial training in Cambodia, after which successful candidates will be assigned to HALO’s various global programs. The role involves leadership responsibilities, overseeing local teams, and conducting field operations in challenging environments. No prior experience in mine clearance or ordnance disposal is required as comprehensive technical and management training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage teams in mine clearance, explosive ordnance disposal, and minefield surveying.
• Apply and maintain HALO’s operational systems in finance, logistics, security, HR, IT, and quality management.
• Conduct data analysis, risk assessments, equipment auditing and maintenance, vehicle repairs, and prepare reports and proposals.
• Work cohesively with diverse cultural groups and foster effective interpersonal relationships.
• Adapt and perform effectively in remote and austere locations, often away from home for up to 45 weeks yearly.

• Solution-focused mindset, self-motivation, and ability to work independently.
• Practical aptitude and willingness to acquire new hands-on skills as needed.
• Proficient English communication skills (C1 level), persuasive and diplomatic across cultures, patient with interpreters.
• Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

• A background or qualification in STEM fields.
• International work experience and familiarity with humanitarian sectors.
• Project management and professional security/safety management experience.
• Experience living or working with culturally diverse groups.
• Languages such as Arabic, Ukrainian, Portuguese, Spanish, or Russian are advantageous.
• Possession of a driving license.

Additional Requirements and Conditions

• Must attend a selection day in south-west Scotland between 12 and 16 October 2026.
• Be available to begin training on 31 January 2027 in Cambodia.
• Commitment to live and work in remote, austere conditions.
• Willingness to be assigned to any of HALO’s international programs after training completion.

Compensation and Benefits

• Starting salary of £25,956, increasing to £33,959 after training completion.
• Monthly overseas living allowance.
• Free accommodation provided during overseas assignments.
• 49 days of annual leave, increasing to 56 days after two years of service.
