Job description
About the Company
Clearspace is reshaping commercial real estate by rethinking how office environments are designed and built. As a design-and-build company, it offers an integrated service model that helps lower both the expense and complexity of commercial construction. The firm partners with some of the leading landlords and businesses across Canada and is building a team of motivated, capable professionals to change how workplaces are delivered and make strong office design more widely accessible.
Role Overview
Clearspace is hiring an Intermediate Interior Designer to support corporate workplace projects. The right person will bring a strong interest in office interiors, a sharp eye for detail, and the ability to turn client needs into practical, creative solutions. This position gives you exposure to the full design journey, from early concept work through to project completion.
Because this is a design-and-build environment, you will work directly with project managers, estimators, site supervisors, and trades to ensure design intent is carried through into execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of the design scope on assigned projects from project kickoff through final completion, covering concept development, budget planning, material choices, and furniture specifications.
- Develop original, practical, and visually strong design ideas that respond to project objectives and client expectations.
- Lead client-facing presentations across programming, layout planning, concept direction, and design development.
- Build and nurture relationships with clients and key accounts.
- Guide junior designers, CAD technicians, and consultants in producing and maintaining drawing packages, including RCPs, flooring plans, fixture layouts, furniture plans, finish schedules, partitions, power and communication plans, elevations, and millwork details, as well as reviewing permit, tender, and construction document sets.
- Work closely with project managers, estimators, and construction teams throughout design, tendering, and construction phases.
- Support onboarding and training for new junior designers and contribute to a learning-focused team culture.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate has 5 to 8 years of interior design experience and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or a related discipline from an accredited institution. Background in corporate office and workplace design is preferred. The role also requires experience with 3D rendering and visualization, the ability to work collaboratively within a project team and independently when needed, strong time management, and a proactive approach to solving problems.
You should be comfortable interpreting sketches, drawings, programs, and similar project material through creative and analytical thinking, and be able to communicate design intent clearly in verbal, written, and graphic formats. Strong English communication skills are important, along with a solid understanding of what clients expect to receive at each project phase, including construction documents. Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Suite, or comparable design software is also required.
Work Culture
The company emphasizes teamwork, efficiency, inclusion, and a lively workplace culture.
