Job description
Role Overview
Clearspace is hiring a Technical Designer or Architectural Technologist who enjoys precision, coordination, and producing highly accurate drawing sets. In this role, you will contribute both to project delivery and to the systems that support it, including technical detailing and the upkeep of CAD and Revit standards. You will also help guide the team through the transition from AutoCAD workflows to Revit-based processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with designers, project managers, and construction leads to ensure design intent is properly carried through to issued-for-construction documentation.
- Review drawings and details for accuracy and quality before they are used on site.
- Keep CAD and Revit templates, details, families, and working methods up to date.
- Help improve drawing standards, including converting CAD standards into Revit workflows.
- Provide technical guidance to the design team by answering questions, solving model issues, and supporting best practices.
Experience and Qualifications
- 5 to 10 years of professional experience as an Architectural Technologist or Technical Designer, preferably in corporate workplace or interior architecture projects.
- Demonstrated ability to oversee and coordinate construction documentation at a senior level.
- Strong knowledge of building systems, technical detailing, and relevant codes.
- Advanced working knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD.
- A team-oriented approach with a genuine interest in coaching and supporting colleagues.
- Ability to balance detailed hands-on drafting work with process improvement and technical oversight.
Why This Role Matters
Great design depends on strong documentation. This position is central to raising the quality, consistency, and coordination of technical output, helping ensure projects are as well resolved in drawings as they are in concept and execution.
About the Workplace
Clearspace is a design-build firm focused on making thoughtful design accessible. The team values clarity, collaboration, and practical creativity, with an emphasis on straightforward work and a supportive culture. This position is based in Toronto and follows a hybrid arrangement.
