Job description
Overview
Cutler creates varied, inspiring, design-led, and technically robust environments that support business growth and help people do their best work. The studio combines architecture, interior design, and project management from early concept through final delivery, backed by long-standing partnerships with consultants and contractors who help ensure the spaces function as well as they look.
This opportunity is for an experienced Interior Designer based in Alberta or Ontario who is open to relocating to Vancouver. You will work closely with the partners in an open, collaborative setting and contribute not only to design and delivery, but also to business development, budgeting, and strategic planning.
The role is suited to a creative and seasoned designer with experience in architectural practices and commercial tenant improvement work, who wants to take on a more influential role within a supportive team.
Role expectations
- Lead and coordinate multiple commercial tenant improvement and interior design projects.
- Partner with clients to define programming needs and translate them into clear project goals.
- Bring strong creative thinking and a high standard of design quality to each assignment.
- Develop presentations that communicate ideas clearly and persuasively.
- Support 3D model coordination during design development so the concept is communicated accurately.
- Research, select, and present finishes, fixtures, and furnishings that balance function, aesthetics, sustainability, and budget.
- Prepare complete and well-coordinated contract documentation.
- Collaborate with architects and other consultants throughout design and implementation.
- Take part in design charrettes and peer review sessions.
- Help maintain project schedules, budgets, and documentation standards without compromising design quality.
Required background
- At least 8 years of experience in commercial tenant improvement projects.
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited interior design program.
- Licensure as an Interior Designer in Alberta or Ontario.
- Prior experience working in architectural firms and partnering with architects across design and execution phases.
- Strong proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Solid project management ability with a track record of meeting milestones and budget targets.
- Ability to produce accurate, fully coordinated design and contract documents.
