Job description
The opportunity
Amwins is a major specialty insurance distributor with employee ownership at its core and a long-term outlook focused on lasting growth. Its internal Real Estate group is responsible for planning and delivering the offices where employees across the business work every day. The team is now seeking an Interior Designer who wants to build a career in-house and contribute directly to the workplace experience.
This position is suited to a designer with at least two years of experience in corporate or commercial design who is ready for a different kind of role. The work goes beyond concept development and includes carrying projects through completion, partnering closely with stakeholders, and helping shape environments that support employees nationwide.
As part of the in-house design team, you will collaborate with outside firms while helping set and maintain the design direction, standards, and processes that guide the Amwins workplace. You will have ownership over your projects, along with coaching and support to help you grow into a trusted resource with increasing influence over time.
The role offers the chance to follow projects from kickoff through move-in, build deeper expertise, and have a visible impact on how new offices function and feel. Amwins values teamwork, long-term commitment, and a positive working culture, and is looking for someone eager to grow with the organization.
What you'll do
- Organize and maintain project files so each assignment begins efficiently and stays well documented throughout the process.
- Receive, edit, and work with AutoCAD files, then build Revit models to support test fits and space-planning work.
- Develop and refine office test fits in line with workplace guidelines and broader design goals.
- Take part in meetings with external design firms and help communicate requirements, feedback, and standards between internal and external teams.
- Work closely with the internal real estate team during weekly coordination meetings to keep all workstreams aligned.
- Review construction document sets and assist with construction administration to help ensure projects meet workplace standards, operational needs, and design intent through completion.
- Prepare seating plans, amenity plans, and other materials needed to support relocations and move coordination.
- Assemble signage, graphics, and branding packages for internal review, approval, and production.
- Develop welcome packets for employees joining a newly opened office.
- Help choose and coordinate artwork and other design elements that support the workplace experience and brand identity.
What you bring
- At least 2 years of experience in a corporate or commercial interior design environment.
- A CIDA-accredited interior design degree.
- NCIDQ certification, or active progress toward earning it.
- Strong working knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD, with familiarity in SketchUp and Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign and Illustrator.
- Ability to create graphic renderings.
- Strong graphic design, presentation, and communication skills.
- Understanding of interior construction drawings, detailing, building systems, and ADA requirements.
- Experience coordinating projects with consultants and vendors.
- A proactive, resourceful, and detail-focused working style.
Who you are
- You are service-oriented and measure success by how well you help others succeed.
- You can balance creative thinking with consistency and apply design standards thoughtfully.
- You work well in collaborative settings and enjoy partnering with colleagues, consultants, and vendors.
- You value ownership, expertise, and the opportunity to keep growing over time.
- You are motivated by long-term contribution, strong relationships, and institutional knowledge.
