Job description
Role overview
Royal Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is looking for an interim Chief Information Officer to provide senior executive leadership for digital, information, and technology services. The role sits on the executive team as a non-voting Board member and reports to the Chief Executive Officer.
The postholder will shape and drive the Trust’s Digital Strategy and related transformation work, with a focus on making digital capability a key enabler of safer, higher-quality, more efficient, and innovative patient care.
Core accountability
As the most senior digital leader in the organisation, the CIO will hold responsibility for both strategic direction and day-to-day leadership of the Digital function. This includes application development, IT support, cyber security, information governance, and programme delivery.
In addition, the role includes acting as Senior Information Risk Officer (SIRO), with accountability for protecting the Trust’s information assets and ensuring the resilience and security of its digital environment.
Key programmes and priorities
The interim CIO will steer major transformation activity, including the optimisation and re-procurement of the Electronic Patient Record (EPR), the strengthening of secure and dependable digital infrastructure, and the growth of the Trust’s data, analytics, and broader digital capabilities.
All programmes led by the postholder will need to be delivered to agreed timeframes, within budget, and to the required quality standards, supported by strong business cases and aligned with Trust objectives and national NHS policy.
