Job description

Role Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Interface Engineer who will be integral to the delivery of the Terminal 6 substructure at King Salman International Airport (KSIA) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time, on-site position involves collaboration with esteemed industry leaders such as Bechtel and Foster + Partners on one of Saudi Arabia's major Public Investment Fund (PIF) giga-projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of interface for all joint venture (JV) stakeholders including Bechtel delivery partners, Foster + Partners architectural team, GACA for airside security clearance, local utilities, precast suppliers, and adjacent work packages.
  • Lead the initiation, tracking, and closure of Request for Information (RFI) related to interfacing issues utilizing Bechtel’s established workflow.
  • Facilitate and lead weekly interface alignment meetings between major stakeholders to proactively address cross-package conflicts.
  • Oversee precast component inspections, ensuring compliance with strict aesthetic and tolerance standards and coordinate associated transportation approvals and installation tolerances.
  • Maintain proactive liaison with Saudi government authorities ensuring compliance with the Saudi Building Code and Local Content & Government Procurement Authority (LCGPA) requirements for labor and procurement.
  • Manage and continuously update the central interface register and harmonize BIM models to Level of Detail 400 standard within Bechtel’s Common Data Environment (Autodesk Construction Cloud/BIM360).
  • Prepare monthly performance reports and provide real-time risk assessments to project management regarding interface activities.
  • Document and minute critical stakeholder meetings, including various coordination workshops and security briefings.

Candidate Profile and Qualifications

  • Must be a Saudi national, registered with the Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE) as a Civil or Structural Engineer at Professional grade.
  • Possess a minimum of 5 years of interface management experience on large-scale infrastructure or airport projects within Saudi Arabia.
  • Demonstrated experience working with US-style EPC contractors such as Bechtel, Jacobs, or WSP, including familiarity with their RFI and submittal processes.
  • Fluent in Arabic and English, both spoken and written, capable of technical correspondence and presenting to stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of the Saudi Building Code (SBC) requirements relevant to concrete structures, precast concrete, and aviation facility lightning protection.
  • Preferred experience with PIF mega-projects or major airport expansion projects (e.g., NEOM, Red Sea, KKIA).
  • Knowledge of precast concrete construction standards, including fair-faced concrete quality requirements.
  • Competence in BIM software such as Revit, Navisworks, and cloud-based CDE platforms.
  • Solid interpersonal skills with the ability to resolve conflicts under high-pressure multi-stakeholder conditions.

Technical and Soft Skills

  • Ability to interpret architectural and structural design drawings and BIM clash detection reports.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, stakeholder engagement, and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, Primavera P6 (basic level), AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, and Autodesk Construction Cloud/BIM360.
