Intake and Promotions Officer

Role overview

This is a full-time, permanent position based in Gippsland, Victoria, within a not-for-profit health organisation. The role supports people affected by gambling harm and helps improve access to Gamblers Help services, with a strong emphasis on linking clients to Therapeutic and Financial Counsellors. It also involves promoting counselling services within the broader community and stakeholder network.

The total annual remuneration is $111,365, which includes superannuation and the full optional benefit of salary packaging.

About the organisation

Latrobe Community Health Service works to reduce health issues through education, awareness and earlier intervention, while delivering integrated care. Originating in regional Gippsland, the organisation now provides a wide range of services including general practice, nursing, allied health, dental care, counselling and psychology, gambling support, alcohol and drug treatment, migrant and refugee settlement services, social connection, carer support, and NDIS services in partnership with the NDIA.

Key duties

• Handle client questions quickly and provide accurate, current information.
• Process client and agency referrals into Gamblers Help services.
• Arrange initial appointments and allocate referrals to Therapeutic and Financial Counsellors.
• Deliver short interventions and oversee the Gamblers Help waitlist.
• Maintain the booking calendar and scheduling system.
• Keep intake procedures, policies and work instructions up to date.
• Work with Community Engagement Workers to promote Gamblers Help and raise awareness of the counselling services among internal and external stakeholders.
• Take part in team meetings, supervision and quality improvement activities linked to the role.
• Achieve service delivery and productivity targets.
• Carry out other duties that fit the role or are assigned by management.

Requirements

• Understanding of the challenges faced by individuals and families affected by harmful gambling.
• Experience and familiarity with the health and/or community services sector.
• Relevant tertiary qualification in Community Services or a similar field.
• Current Victorian driver's licence.
• Current Working with Children Check.
• Strong computer literacy, particularly with data systems and client management platforms.
• Working knowledge of the health and community services environment is preferred.
