This position is a full-time Insurance Verification Specialist role based in Fort Myers, Florida.

Elite DNA uses a coordinated care model for mental health, matching patients with the most suitable services and providers before direct treatment begins. Its services span psychotherapy, psychiatry, psychosocial rehabilitation, EMDR, and group therapy.

Role overview

In this position, you will help ensure insurance information is accurate and coverage is confirmed before patients receive care. The role supports clean billing, timely authorizations, and a positive patient experience through careful communication and attention to detail.

Key responsibilities

  • Confirm patient insurance coverage and benefits before services are delivered.
  • Collect and record insurance details accurately from patients and payers.
  • Read insurance policies to identify coverage terms and authorization needs.
  • Communicate with patients, insurers, and healthcare staff about coverage or authorization questions.
  • Help investigate and resolve billing mismatches and claim denials tied to insurance issues.
  • Stay current on insurance rules, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Protect patient data by following privacy and confidentiality standards.

Skills and qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; healthcare administration or insurance certification is a plus.
  • Background in insurance verification, billing, patient access, registration, or a related healthcare function.
  • Working knowledge of insurance plans, coding, and billing processes.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent accuracy, organization, and follow-through.
  • Comfort working both independently and collaboratively in a busy setting.
  • Experience using EHR platforms and billing systems.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate or bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • At least 1 year of experience in insurance verification, patient access, registration, medical billing, or healthcare revenue cycle work is preferred.
  • Experience handling commercial, Medicare, Medicaid, and managed care plans is preferred.
  • Behavioral health experience is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of prior authorization workflows and payer rules is preferred.
  • Ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic health record systems.
  • Athenahealth experience is helpful but not mandatory.
