Job description
Overview
The City of Playford invites applications for the role of Insurance and Return to Work Coordinator. Situated in one of South Australia's most rapidly expanding communities, this position combines leadership in injury management, insurance coordination, and employee wellbeing promotion within a dynamic local government setting.
Role Purpose and Responsibilities
- Manage the complete process of workers compensation and income protection claims, ensuring beneficial results for both employees and the organization.
- Develop and oversee return to work programs, providing support and coordination for employees, leaders, and stakeholders during recovery pathways.
- Administer and coordinate the Council’s insurance portfolio, including claims handling, inquiries, renewals, reporting, and managing unresolved issues collaboratively.
- Offer expert advice on injury management, workers compensation, and insurance to diverse organizational members.
- Maintain strict adherence to relevant legislation, the Local Government Workers Compensation Scheme, Performance Standards for Self-Insurers, insurance policies, and organizational procedures.
- Collaborate with the Risk & WHS team to analyze claims, incident trends, and identify risk reduction opportunities and process improvements.

This role requires a trusted adviser capable of fostering strong relationships and promoting employee wellbeing through practical insurance and return to work coordination.
Qualifications and Experience
- Demonstrated experience in injury management, workers compensation claims processing, return to work program coordination, and insurance portfolio management.
- Comprehensive understanding of workers compensation, return to work frameworks, workplace health and safety legislation, and insurance protocols.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and build rapport across all levels.
- Proven ability to support return to work initiatives, injury and claims management, and workplace health programs that produce positive outcomes.
- Analytical skills to evaluate information, manage priorities effectively, and make sound decisions in a complex environment.
- A proactive and collaborative attitude with a commitment to workplace safety, employee wellbeing, and equitable claims resolutions.

Additional Information
This is a permanent, full-time position based in Davoren Park, South Australia. Annual remuneration starts at $104,509 plus superannuation.
