Role overview
This is a permanent field-based position covering the South East region, with travel across the store estate from Gillingham through to Eastbourne. A company car is provided. The salary range is £40,000 to £50,000, along with a pension, private medical insurance, ShareSave, 6.6 weeks of holiday, and other employee benefits.
The role sits within B&Q’s Southampton Store Support office network and supports the wider business by helping stores and regional teams deliver the installations service strategy. The purpose of the post is to work alongside regional leadership, coach store teams, and strengthen the quality of installation delivery.
Driving and mobility requirements
A full driving licence is mandatory because the role requires regular travel throughout the South East region.
What you will do
- Work closely with Regional Managers and Unit Managers to put the installations plan into action effectively.
- Build trusted working relationships across regional teams.
- Use performance data and insight in regular discussions with managers to spot trends and act on regional opportunities.
- Support stores in handling customer problems and high-level complaints, helping protect customer experience, brand reputation, and company finances.
- Coordinate with the installations support team to close out warranty claims efficiently.
- Check that the right processes are being followed consistently across stores.
- Create training content and deliver coaching that improves confidence and capability within stores.
- Use data-led insight to support the sourcing, recruitment, development, and engagement of installers.
- Strengthen relationships with installers by gathering feedback and turning it into service improvements.
- Spot capacity gaps and help recruit, develop, and retain capable installers.
- Work with regional teams to ensure installer capacity matches future demand and business goals.
- Build the technical knowledge of the store and installations support teams.
- Recommend and support improvements to the installation proposition with regional managers.
Key working relationships
You will work with Regional Managers, Store Management Teams, Store Showroom Teams, external installers, Legal, the Quality & Aftercare team, external electrical governing bodies, Gas Safe Register, and installations service providers plus dispute resolution organisations.
Skills and experience needed
- Strong understanding of the installation sector.
- Awareness of dispute resolution procedures.
- Background in handling customer issues and complaints.
- Ability to diagnose problems and find practical solutions.
- Confident verbal and written communication.
- Commercial awareness and financial judgement.
- Experience supporting or driving change.
- Ability to coach and develop colleagues both remotely and face to face.
- Strong analytical ability.
- Competence with Microsoft Office, Teams, and SharePoint.
- Well organised and efficient in day-to-day work.
- Ownership mindset and accountability.
- Strong influencing and engagement skills.
