Job description

Job overview

This role is focused on checking welds and materials using non-destructive testing methods and confirming whether findings match the applicable codes and contract specifications. The inspector is expected to identify conforming and non-conforming defects accurately and document the results clearly.

Key responsibilities

  • Carry out non-destructive testing using methods such as ultrasonic testing, radiographic testing, magnetic particle testing, liquid penetrant testing, visual inspection, phased array ultrasonic testing, and time of flight diffraction ultrasonic testing.
  • Observe NDT activities to make sure they follow safety rules, quality requirements, and accepted industry practices.
  • Support the NDT technician with equipment setup and calibration in line with approved procedures.
  • Help maintain and service NDT tools and equipment so they remain in proper working condition.
  • Coordinate the use of people, equipment, and materials for NDT assignments.
  • Perform routine checks and audits of NDT work to spot opportunities for improvement and ensure standards are being met.
  • Offer support, coaching, and technical guidance to NDT technicians and inspectors to strengthen their capability.
  • Confirm the identity of structural materials such as plates, beams, and angles, and verify they match installation drawings and required specifications.

Qualifications and experience

The position requires a diploma in a relevant discipline and valid professional certifications, including NDT Level II qualification in UT, PT, MT, RT, PAUT, and TOFD from recognized bodies such as PCN, CSWIP, or ASNT. An ISO 9001:2015 auditor or lead auditor certification is also required. Extra Level II certifications in additional methods will be considered an advantage. Applicants should have at least 9 years of experience in quality-related work within marine engineering industries, including jacket structures, shipbuilding, and rig building.

Languages

English is required, and Arabic will be an added advantage.
