About the Role and Responsibilities
This position involves performing detailed inspections on MDPE/PE pipeline installation works for City Gas Distribution (CGD), PNG, and CNG network projects. The role includes supervising trench excavation, pipe laying, lowering, warning mat installation, backfilling, and surface restoration activities. Additionally, you will inspect MDPE fittings and oversee electrofusion and butt fusion jointing processes, ensuring all fusion parameters are met and equipment calibration is verified. Maintaining compliance with approved QAP, ITP, method statements, project specifications, drawings, and client criteria is essential.
You will be tasked with observing and validating pressure and leakage testing procedures and reviewing associated reports according to relevant standards. Generating and maintaining comprehensive inspection documentation such as inspection reports, quality records, test checklists, punch lists, NCRs, and daily progress summaries will be part of your duties. Further, monitoring contractor quality and supporting corrective and preventive measures, as well as coordinating quality approvals with clients, consultants, contractors, and project teams, form key responsibilities. Strict adherence to HSE protocols including excavation safety measures, permit-to-work systems, use of PPE, barricading, and emergency response adherence is mandatory.
Preferred Experience and Candidate Profile
- Experience in CGD projects focusing on MDPE/PE pipeline installations.
- Acquaintance with PNG/CNG distribution networks and related gas pipeline construction practices.
- Knowledge of inspection criteria for electrofusion and butt fusion joints.
- Understanding of QA/QC documentation, testing standards, and applicable HSE regulations.
- Educational qualification should be a Diploma, B.E., or B.Tech in Mechanical, Civil, or relevant engineering fields.
- Prior QA/QC inspection experience in CGD gas pipeline projects is advantageous.
