Job description

Role Overview and Responsibilities

The Infrastructure Monitoring Specialist is responsible for overseeing event alerts and promptly notifying the appropriate teams. This includes managing requests from end users directed to level 2 and level 3 support engineers. Key duties involve monitoring database events such as database availability, instance status, and disk drive/file system space.

  • Supervise Oracle alert log files, transaction logs, and backup logs.
  • Track database operations and respond to inquiries from application support and development teams.
  • Oversee backups, identify recovery errors, and assist with restoration requests.
  • Monitor metric alerts and tackle performance challenges including high CPU usage, application responsiveness, memory consumption, application and query tuning.
  • Process requests related to database start/stop, user account creation, and granting specific data access permissions.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure monitoring platforms such as Datadog and Dynatrace, with enthusiasm to acquire new technological skills.
  • Experience tracking database health indicators like availability, performance, and storage utilization.
  • Knowledge of Oracle database logs (alert logs, transaction logs, backup logs) and their management.
  • Basic comprehension of database backup and recovery procedures.
