Job description
Role overview
This is a strong entry-level opportunity for someone aiming to start a career in information technology. The traineeship blends practical workplace learning in business technology support with structured study in the theory and methods behind the work.
You will be based with experienced technicians and build hands-on capability across IT support, cloud systems, device setup, and user administration.
What you will do
- Support senior technicians in handling everyday IT service requests across a broad user base.
- Set up and roll out technology solutions such as laptops, desktops, phone systems, email and collaboration tools, user accounts, and security-related infrastructure.
- Help investigate and resolve problems involving software, networks, infrastructure, and security.
- Deliver first-line technical assistance, including fault diagnosis and support during larger incident response situations.
- Travel to remote locations around Sydney to carry out maintenance, assist users, and support upgrade work.
- Prepare equipment carefully for deployment to users and sites to help maintain a high standard of service and user satisfaction.
- Keep documentation and asset information accurate, and support process improvements within the team.
- Assist with general technology-team and office tasks as needed.
What you will gain
- Paid full-time experience in a professional IT workplace.
- Guidance, coaching, and mentorship from experienced technicians.
- Exposure that can support progression into permanent roles in the technology sector.
About you
You should have a clear interest in information technology or a closely related area. Prior work experience is not required, although informal, volunteer, or self-taught technology experience will be considered an advantage.
You’ll need to communicate well with people from different backgrounds, work effectively with others, take direction confidently, and be willing to learn new technical skills. The role also calls for careful process-following, an eye for identifying issues or inconsistencies, and a professional personal presentation.
