Job description
Role Overview
The Information Technology Technician is responsible for supporting day-to-day IT operations, maintaining equipment, and helping users work safely and effectively with technology. The role covers computers, printers, telecommunication tools, AV systems, and network-related hardware.
Key Duties
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot end-user hardware and software, including computers, printers, AV systems, telephony devices, and network equipment.
- Set up computer devices, coordinate maintenance, and guide users on proper and secure use of IT resources.
- Provide on-site, remote, and phone-based support for technical issues.
- Support staff with system setup, usability issues, and ongoing hardware/software assistance.
- Deliver daily operational support to employees and respond to general computer-related queries.
- Manage IT asset records, inventory tracking, status reporting, and equipment decommissioning activities.
- Set up, run, and maintain AV and system equipment for events, meetings, presentations, conventions, and media coverage.
- Operate printers and multifunction devices, including Ysoft Safe-Q print management and badge printing for events and staff.
- Maintain repair logs, issue records, and maintenance schedules, and follow up with vendors for repairs, replacement parts, and new orders such as printer cartridges.
- Plan upgrades and maintenance work so that normal operations are not interrupted, and verify that hardware and software remain current.
Qualifications and Experience
A diploma or bachelor’s degree in Information Technology from an accredited university is required. Professional certification is preferred, especially CompTIA A+ or Microsoft Certified IT Professional.
The position calls for at least 2 years of experience in computer networks and systems maintenance.
