About the Role
Information represents a vital asset for Linklaters, essential for creating further value. The Information & Research team plays a crucial role, ensuring the firm gains advantage through effective collection, integration, and utilization of both internal knowledge and external data.
The Information & Research Advisor is responsible for delivering efficient and high-quality information services, supporting both legal and business functions across the firm in line with global strategies and business plans. This includes undertaking legal research, as well as commercial, sector, and client-related inquiries, particularly to support Business Development efforts.
Primary Responsibilities
- Manage research and enquiry services on legal, commercial, client, market, industry, and sector topics, efficiently locating, interpreting, and summarizing data.
- Maintain and develop comprehensive current awareness services that address practice needs and promote business development.
- Provide training to team members and promote effective use of information tools and best practices throughout the firm.
- Work closely with leadership to align team activities and improvements with the overall strategic direction.
- Promote the Information & Research services and liaise with practice groups and offices to encourage optimal use.
- Participate actively in global networks to share best practices and implement agreed policies for information management.
- Serve as a primary contact for research queries, guiding users to appropriate resources including intranet pages, digital repositories, print materials, and more.
- Manage collection and procurement of materials such as books, journals, and online subscriptions, including budget preparation and expenditure monitoring.
- Ensure smooth administrative processes including joiner/leaver updates and distribution list maintenance.
- Keep informed of current developments in applicable legal, sectoral, and jurisdictional areas, supporting tailored news delivery.
- Conduct and deliver training programs for new joiners and other stakeholders, enhancing research skills and system proficiency.
- Develop one’s own professional expertise while contributing to the growth and knowledge sharing of the wider Information & Research teams locally and globally.
- Represent the firm at relevant events and provide constructive feedback within performance management frameworks.
Skills and Experience Required
- Strong interpersonal and communication abilities, including influencing and collaboration skills.
- Capacity to manage multiple tasks pragmatically in a fast-paced environment.
- Team-oriented mindset combined with creativity and openness to innovation.
- Graduate qualification with additional credentials in information or library science preferred.
- Basic understanding of legal issues is desirable.
- Fluent in English and Mandarin languages.
- Proven experience delivering diverse information and research services within professional services settings.
- Demonstrated success in managing information services effectively.
- Advanced technical skills to utilize and enhance information and office systems.
- Commercial awareness, including prioritization skills, global mindset, understanding business operations and strategies, and strong customer service focus.
Technical Competencies
- Capabilities in Compliance Management, Data Management, Data Verification, Document and Records Management, Electronic Discovery, Information Request Management, Knowledge Management, Legal and Business Research, Litigation Support, and Training Delivery.
