Job Overview
This role supports the daily management of the Infection Control Program to minimize infection spread within the healthcare facility.
Key Duties
- Maintain ongoing communication with healthcare team members via meetings and informal contact to ensure proactive infection control efforts.
- Advise and assist with initiating appropriate precautions and isolation for transmissible diseases across the organization.
- Conduct daily surveillance of patients in assigned units to identify healthcare-associated infections according to defined standards and prepare regular infection reports for committees.
- Collect microbiology lab results and relevant infection control data daily to support surveillance activities.
- Support epidemiological investigations of outbreaks and exposure incidents, collaborating with infection control teams to implement control measures.
- Provide education on infection prevention to staff, students, patients, and visitors.
- Monitor compliance with infection control protocols through audits.
- Identify infection control risks and consult with the team for resolution strategies.
- Serve as a resource for infection-related issues, identify potential cross infections, and contribute to program improvements.
- Assist with notifying health authorities about reportable diseases.
- Perform environmental assessments to ensure adherence to infection control principles, including surfaces cleaning, water quality testing, air quality monitoring, and fungal cultures after construction in high-risk areas.
- Review and support environmental cleanliness, cleaning procedures, schedules, and agents used.
- Assist in implementing and monitoring the healthcare waste management program.
- Oversee infection control aspects of ambulatory and home care services, including policy implementation, staff education, exposure evaluation, and data tracking.
- Organize infection control committee meetings with agenda preparation, reporting, and minute-taking; participate in other assigned committees.
- Take part in internal and external fire and disaster drills.
- Perform additional responsibilities within the job scope as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Minimum of 3 years clinical nursing experience in an acute or teaching hospital, with strong knowledge in infection prevention and control. Prior experience in infection control preferred.
- Graduate from a recognized professional nursing school.
- Fluent in written and spoken English; Arabic language skills preferred.
- Possession of a current Registered Nurse license from the country of origin is required, along with regional practicing license (e.g., SCFHS or DHA).
- Certification in Infection Control (CIC) is preferred.
