Position Overview

International Paper in Sealy, TX is seeking an Industrial Mechanic Technician 1 for full-time night shift work. This role involves leveraging mechanical expertise to maintain continuous process manufacturing equipment, with responsibilities including troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and working collaboratively across teams to meet uptime targets.

Key Responsibilities

• Apply strong mechanical skills in pneumatics, hydraulics, bearings, power transmission, and lubrication to sustain machine operation.
• Possess fundamental knowledge of PLCs, air conditioning systems, motors, drives, and interpret schematics to facilitate equipment uptime.
• Collaborate constructively with maintenance and operations teams to identify and resolve mechanical issues.
• Perform preventative maintenance tasks in designated areas to ensure equipment reliability.
• Meet safety, attendance, and quality standards consistently.
• Demonstrate excellent teamwork and problem-solving capabilities.
• Be open to extensive cross-training across various technical functions to broaden skillset.
• Flexibility to work varying shifts and weekends as needed.
• Utilize computer systems to manage maintenance processes and work orders efficiently.

Qualifications and Skills

• Minimum three years of experience in industrial maintenance environments.
• Effective communication, both orally and in writing.
• Basic understanding of PLCs, A/C, motors and drives, schematics, bearings, power transmission, lubrication, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Ability to execute preventative maintenance protocols proficiently.
• Familiarity with common tools and mobile equipment such as forklifts and boom lifts.
• Competent in reading blueprints and basic computer operations.
• Physical ability to frequently bend, squat, kneel, climb, stand for extended periods, and occasionally lift materials weighing between 50 to 70 pounds.
• Self-motivated to work with minimal supervision and adapt to varied working hours.

Compensation and Incentives

• Hourly wage: $30.15.
• Sign-on bonus totaling $2,000 distributed over milestones: $1,000 after 30 days, $500 after six months, and another $500 following one year, with an additional bonus at two years.
• Retention bonuses include $500 after one year and a further lump sum at the two-year mark.
