Job description
About the Role
Vallourec is seeking an Industrial Information Systems Expert to provide hands-on expertise across industrial IT solutions, from implementation and support to continuous improvement. The role covers level 2 systems such as RTT/SCADA, level 3 systems such as MES, Industry 4.0 tools, specialized industrial applications, and their connection with ERP and automation environments.
The position is based at Vallourec Saudi Arabia’s plant in Dammam, Second Industrial City, and sits within the industrial IT scope, with support from other VDIS teams. The main system landscape includes MES, RTT/SCADA, and digital tools such as Smartengo Inventory, Digital Log Sheet, Realtime Threading Performance, and Fabriq. It also includes industrial PCs running dedicated machine or automation software, production CCTV, and other operational systems with a functional component. ERP, PLCs, and automation platforms are outside the direct scope except where integration is involved.
Key Responsibilities
You will manage evolution and run projects, translate business needs into IT requirements, coordinate delivery with application managers and product owners, track topics with stakeholders, and organize user acceptance testing. You will also oversee deployment, commissioning, change implementation, and ramp-up for new or updated solutions.
The role requires building a strong understanding of the solutions, the operational processes behind them, the technical setup, and the relationships with operations teams and solution owners. You will document systems, participate in routine site meetings such as VMS and SMT, and help drive industrial IT governance through regular follow-ups.
On the support side, you will assist users, monitor support requests, identify improvement opportunities, and help resolve issues through workshops and CITs. Training users and making sure incidents are properly logged, tracked, and closed will also be part of the role.
You will manage hardware and software assets within the scope, including special industrial computers, specialized software, and solution-specific mobile devices. The role also includes tracking obsolescence, coordinating with operations and global infrastructure teams, and keeping the asset lifecycle under control.
In addition, you will act as the main reference point for industrial information systems, build close working relationships with operations teams, improve visibility on IT solutions, and capture knowledge in the documentation portal. You must also ensure adherence to Group standards covering HSE, governance, infrastructure, security, sourcing, and HR-related requirements.
Requirements
The role calls for a Master’s degree in Computer Engineering or Computer Science with an industrial information systems focus. Project management certifications would be an advantage.
You should have around 10 years of experience managing industrial IT solutions at levels 2 and 3, ideally as a systems analyst or functional consultant, along with strong exposure to deploying and improving industrial systems. Experience with ERP platforms such as SAP or Oracle is considered an advantage, as is experience with automation solutions.
Technically, you need a solid understanding of the automation pyramid, plus broad knowledge of servers, networks, computers, and security. You should be comfortable working independently, thinking analytically, solving problems effectively, and showing strong curiosity. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential for working with both local and remote teams.
Good written and spoken English is mandatory. Arabic and French are considered additional strengths.
Health, Safety and Environment
Since the role is based on an industrial site, you will be expected to know and follow all HSE rules that apply to the site and to the Group.
Technical Environment
The environment includes an in-house level 2 solution for real-time production tracking, a dedicated level 3 MES solution, SAP as the ERP, in-house digital tools for yard management, production performance monitoring, and digitalization, as well as vendor-specific software used to control machines.
