Role Overview
The Outsourced Technical Services team at PM Group is looking for a skilled Industrial Hygienist to join their Client's site in Cork. This role involves recognizing, assessing, and managing workplace health risks to maintain a secure environment, uphold health and safety standards, ensure regulatory adherence, and drive ongoing improvements in industrial hygiene.
Key Duties
- Carry out both qualitative and quantitative assessments of exposure to chemical, biological, and physical hazards.
- Design and implement monitoring programs such as air quality tests, noise level surveys, and ventilation checks.
- Maintain and calibrate hygiene equipment, ensuring precise data collection.
- Work alongside various teams to evaluate new machinery and procedures for potential health risks.
- Lead investigations into occupational health incidents and suggest corrective measures.
- Assist in creating and delivering training sessions on workplace health and hygiene matters.
- Ensure adherence to occupational health laws and standards across local, national, and international levels, including OSHA, EPA, and EU REACH regulations.
- Compile detailed technical reports and documentation for audits.
- Engage in risk assessments, including evaluating chemical hazards and selecting appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Keep abreast of new industrial hygiene technologies, regulations, and best industry practices.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health, Environmental Science, or closely related discipline; a Master's degree is preferred.
- Certification or eligibility for certification such as CIH, ROH, or other relevant EHS credentials.
- At least three years of experience in industrial hygiene, preferably within pharmaceutical or chemical manufacturing sectors.
- In-depth understanding of occupational health standards and exposure assessment techniques.
- Skilled in operating industrial hygiene monitoring tools and analyzing data.
- Strong communication, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
- Capable of working independently as well as collaboratively in fast-moving, regulated workplaces.
