Job description

Role Overview

This permanent, full-time Industrial Engineering Project Manager role is based in the United States and is structured as a fully remote position with significant travel requirements. The successful candidate will spend about 60% of the week traveling and must be located near a major U.S. airport. Only U.S. citizens and Green Card holders are eligible, and third-party or subcontracted candidates will not be considered.

Core Responsibilities

  • Direct delivery across several projects and workstreams by maintaining integrated plans, milestones, staffing, and day-to-day execution, while providing hands-on leadership to the delivery team.
  • Lead client engagements from start to finish, including scope, schedule, budget, and quality management, and convert statements of work into actionable team outputs.
  • Run stakeholder governance and executive communication through weekly updates, steering meetings, and clear status reporting to ensure delivery on time and within budget.
  • Apply industrial engineering and operations methods such as time and motion studies, work measurement, sampling, cost-benefit analysis, and process redesign to support data-backed recommendations.
  • Conduct operational reviews and current-state diagnostics, then turn findings into prioritized improvement opportunities and practical action plans.
  • Develop and implement engineered labor/time standards, including study design, standards creation, documentation, and rollout, while leading Lean improvement efforts using root-cause tools such as 5 Whys and Pareto analysis.
  • Improve productivity across labor efficiency, utilization, and performance management, with measurable tracking of results.
  • Redesign operating models and business processes, including standard work and sustainment controls to help changes stick.
  • Support account growth by spotting follow-on opportunities and contributing to proposals and presentations.
  • Work with subject-matter experts to build productivity initiatives such as labor planning, performance routines, and standard work, while quantifying business benefits.
  • Convert strategy and customer journey insights into operational requirements, process updates, and an executable implementation roadmap.
  • Ensure all client deliverables are polished, logically structured, analytically sound, and ready for executive review.
  • Adjust quickly to different client industries and operating environments, and build strategies and implementation plans that align with project and business goals.
  • Review and approve travel expenses, coordinate travel, and participate in project reviews.
  • Coach and develop project team members through project guidance, career support, feedback, performance discussions, and personal development conversations.
  • Facilitate cross-functional workshops with Operations, HR, IT, and Finance to align goals, confirm requirements, and drive decisions.
  • Manage time effectively, report task progress to the project lead, and stay productive whether working remotely, independently, or onsite with a team.
  • Take part in trade shows, networking activities, and recruiting events.
  • Travel extensively throughout the U.S. and internationally, sometimes on an independent basis.

Competencies and Professional Strengths

The role requires a consultant who can lead large and complex engagements, earn client trust, communicate clearly across all stakeholder levels, and produce strong presentations, client reports, and internal standards. The ideal candidate shows initiative, sound judgment, analytical thinking, and technical leadership, and can explain work clearly through written technical summaries. Strong capability in Excel-based analysis, regression, and other data-mining methods is also important. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends is required when needed.

Education

A Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering or an equivalent qualification is required.

Qualifications

  • At least 7 years of consulting experience applying industrial engineering principles and leading client engagements across multiple industries.
  • Proven success managing fixed-scope, time-boxed projects and small delivery teams.
  • Exposure to workforce management, labor planning, productivity programs, or operational excellence is important.
  • Strong executive-level communication and presentation ability, solid Excel-based analytical problem solving, and effective stakeholder management skills are required to keep multiple projects on schedule.
  • Experience building and managing project budgets, along with a solid understanding of travel coordination and expense policies, is needed.
  • Knowledge of change management and the ability to influence adoption of recommended solutions is expected.
  • Experience delivering end-to-end project solutions, from research and strategy through design, development, and change management, is required.
  • Demonstrated leadership with both internal teams and clients, along with a consistently positive attitude, is expected.
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office, especially Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook, is required.
  • Deep command of industrial engineering fundamentals such as labor standards, MOST, and time studies is necessary.
  • Experience with methods such as work measurement, capacity modeling, Lean, and time studies is preferred.
  • Access to reliable transportation and residence near a major U.S. airport are required.

Work Authorization and Travel Requirements

Applicants must be able to work in the United States as a U.S. citizen or Green Card holder. A valid passport or REAL ID is required for U.S. air travel. The position involves extensive travel, including independent travel, and candidates must live near a major U.S. airport. No third parties or sub-vendors will be accepted.
