Role Overview
We are searching for an Industrial Designer / Design Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role demands a minimum of two years of experience in industrial design, product design, or product design engineering, preferably within a nimble, fast-paced product development environment. The position is multidisciplinary, requiring flexibility and enthusiasm to work across design, engineering, and research and development. Candidates should be confident bridging creative design and technical development, with a blend of creative ideation and practical problem solving.
This opportunity suits an independent, self-motivated individual passionate about exploring, prototyping, and nurturing innovative product ideas. The candidate will contribute to a diverse range of projects spanning from conceptual research to testing, development, and final product delivery. Significant ownership and autonomy are offered, with emphasis on iterative design and rapid prototyping.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop innovative physical products and integrated systems.
- Collaborate across R&D, industrial design, and product development teams.
- Generate concepts using sketches, CAD modeling, and rapid prototyping techniques.
- Build and evaluate functional prototypes and proofs of concept.
- Work alongside engineers, manufacturers, and external collaborators.
- Investigate emerging technologies, materials, and new product opportunities.
- Manage projects from initial concepts through to validated, production-ready solutions.
Required Skills and Experience
- At least two years' experience in product design, industrial design, or product design engineering roles.
- Proficiency in CAD software, notably SolidWorks.
- Effective sketching, ideation, and visual communication abilities.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and product lifecycle development.
- Practical experience in developing and refining physical products.
- Familiarity with prototyping consumer electronics platforms such as Arduino and Raspberry Pi.
- Interest in emerging AI tools and advancements in product development workflows.
Location & Salary
This position is based near Ascot, Berkshire (postcode SL5).
The annual salary range is £30,000 to £40,000, determined by experience, skills, and alignment with the role.
