Role overview
The Income Auditor role is focused on ensuring the hotel’s revenue is recorded accurately, reported promptly, and supported by strong internal controls. This position helps management make well-informed decisions by delivering reliable financial information and by identifying any issues that may need corrective action. It also plays an important part in protecting owner assets through disciplined control processes.
Core responsibilities
- Oversee and manage the hotel’s daily revenue flow.
- Review income-related reports such as early check-ins, late check-outs, cancellations, void reports, and similar records.
- Prepare daily paid-outs, rebates, and correction requests for approval.
- Maintain proper filing of all revenue-related documentation.
- Reconcile daily cash and payout figures with the general cashier.
- Match daily city ledger payments and credit card transactions with the general cashier and accounts receivable.
- Allocate city ledger rebates to the correct accounts.
- Submit income and rebate-related journal vouchers to the financial controller.
- Prepare city ledger payments accurately and on time each day, then forward them to accounts receivable for posting in the back-office system.
- File registration cards and prepare them for scanning.
- Track daily receipts and compile daily sales and leased outlet revenue reports.
- Carry out surprise checks on cash floats issued to individual cashiers.
- Monitor and control complimentary room usage.
What the role requires
- A bachelor’s degree is required.
- 2 to 3 years of experience in finance and accounting is needed, ideally within the hospitality sector.
- Strong communication and organisational abilities are essential.
- Comfort reading and interpreting business publications, professional materials, technical procedures, and government regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure documents.
- Confidence in presenting information and answering questions from managers, clients, customers, and owners.
- Capability to apply mathematical methods such as frequency distribution, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
- Ability to identify problems, gather relevant data, establish facts, and reach sound conclusions.
